On 23 April colleagues from Aberdeen City Bairns’ Hoose Pathfinder kindly hosted a visit for some Scottish Government officials to see the work that has already been started on the site for the city’s proposed Bairns’ Hoose in an innovative approach to making a difference for children and families.
It was impressive to see how much progress had already been made and the size and number of rooms and facilities under development. The site will offer the full suite of Bairns’ Hoose services including a health and wellbeing suite, interview rooms, therapy rooms and space for collaborative multi-agency working. There is also provision for supporting children under the age of criminal responsibility.
Graeme Simpson, Aberdeen City Bairns’ Hoose Pathfinder partnership, quote:
“We have been inspired by the creativity of the children and young people who are helping us with the ongoing design of our Bairns’ Hoose. We know they will continue to challenge us to think carefully and ambitiously about the space being created!”
Scottish Government Deputy Director, Children’s Rights, Protection and Justice, quote:
“It was fantastic to see all the work that has been done to turn a vision into something tangible, as well as hear about all the plans to develop a strong foundation into a vital space to support children, young people and families.”
